Dr. Leonel Awokang

Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Awokang is a Chiropractic Physician with expertise in musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation, and exercise science. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northeast College of Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Barry University, where he competed as an NCAA Division II athlete. He also completed clinical training through the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.

His professional experience spans the evaluation and management of musculoskeletal conditions across clinical and multidisciplinary rehabilitation settings, including Personal Injury, Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), peer review, patient education, and evidence-based healthcare communication. His areas of focus include conservative musculoskeletal care, functional movement, injury recovery, and clinical decision-making.

Dr. Awokang is the founder of Africa Healing Project, an initiative dedicated to documenting musculoskeletal healthcare systems, rehabilitation practices, and provider perspectives throughout Africa. Through clinical site visits, professional interviews, and educational storytelling, he explores how healthcare professionals address musculoskeletal conditions across diverse healthcare environments while fostering collaboration between providers across Africa and the United States.

Originally from Cameroon and raised in Massachusetts, Dr. Awokang combines clinical expertise, athletic experience, and a global perspective on healthcare to make complex health information accessible, practical, and actionable for patients, healthcare consumers, and professional audiences alike
